Brian Ford is a longtime resident of California. He graduated from National University in June, 2005 with a Masters degree in counseling psychology. Since that time he has been working in the field of behavioral health and social work. Brian has counseled some of the most challenging populations including people in crisis at San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit, children in placement at North Valley School and level 14 group homes, and Native American men in recovery at Native Directions, Three Rivers Lodge in Manteca, CA. Brian holds the rank of Yondan (4th degree Black Belt) in the modern self-defense and healing art of Aikido (The Way of Unity/Peace). He has taught Aikido at New School Aikido since 1990 and worked extensively with children to teach them conflict resolution using Positive Discipline approaches. He is currently the Positive Parenting Program manager at Parents By Choice foster family agency and is writing Auto Process Therapy: An Original Buddhist Psychotherapy due for publication this year. As a therapist, Brian's focus is on the emerging field of positive psychology and coping-skills psychology. Rather than viewing his clients as being sick and in need of professional advice, he sees them as taking the first step in discovering a deeper sense of balance leading towards greater independence, happiness, and insight.
